Gantry Cranes
Gantry Cranes (RMGs oder RTGs) as well as Ship to Shore Cranes are an important part of global logistics processes. Due to the high demands and operating times, increase metal wear occurs on wheel flanges, wheel treads, guide rollers and rails.
Technical Obstacle
Signs of wear on the wheel-rail interface of gantry cranes are a typical appearance in container handling operations. Relatively short operating lives of wheels, as well as metal flakes next to the rail are a typical indicator of signs of wear. Constantly increasing demands and higher utilization of the gantry cranes lead to higher wear rates of moving parts. Factors such as hardness of the material, wheel and rail profile, and general alignment of the system play an important role in relation to the service life of certain parts.A consequence of the wear rate is a shutdown of the equipment for maintenance work like wheel replacement which is associated with costs and downtime. This reduces the overall availability of the systems.

Solution
SPC® wear protection systems continuously coat the rails of the gantry cranes with a dry, solid protective coating. This coating is transferred to the wheel flanges, wheel treads and/or guide rollers of gantry cranes. The protective coating on the wheel-rail interface distributes the surface pressure (further information) more evenly, thus reducing metal wear by up to 80% and resulting in a 3-5x increase in the service life of wheels and rails. The application of SPC® systems serves to preventively minimize wear. Necessary maintenance measures such as wheel replacements are drastically reduced. This results in an increased availability of your gantry cranes. Our experienced technical consultants are always at your disposal, virtually or on-site to choose the right individual solution for your gantry cranes.

Reduce Wear
Mechanical wear on cranes, stacker cranes and rotating equipment can be reduced by up to 80%.

Increase Service Life
Due to the wear reduction, the service life of parts such as wheels and rails can be extended by a factor of three to five.

Increase Machine Availability
Reduce planned or unplanned downtimes by applying preventive maintenance and increase the availability of your systems.
